Born to pharmacist parents in 1983 in Kayseri, Turkey, Halil Tekiner holds a B.S. in Pharmacy as well as an M.S. and Ph.D. in the History of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Management, all from Ankara University. He has conducted post-graduate research at various institutions including Harvard Medical School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA; Marburg Philipps University, Germany; Helsinki University, Finland; Semmelweis University, Hungary; and elsewhere. He authored, co-authored or edited 12 books and published more than 60 articles in many languages. He was awarded the Golden Mortar Award, the Pharmacist Hamdi Bey Award for the History of Pharmacy, and International Pharmaceutical Federation's Weblogger of the Year Award among the others. He is a corresponding member of the American, French and German Societies for the History of Pharmacy as well as the International Academy for the History of Pharmacy.
Halil Tekiner is currently an Associate Professor at the Erciyes University School of Pharmacy and also serves as a Vice President of the International Society for the History of Pharmacy.
